Furthermore to the risky travel to Mendoza to play vs Godoy Cruz, one of the best teams of the last seasons, Boca Juniors has enough distance in the table of positions as to start to prepare celebrations of a new trophy of champion, what was denied them since the end of 2008.
With two short championships per season, Boca had not only six without obtaining one single trophy bit not even was near those who had the primacy in the fight to get same, something that has transformed within the Argentinean football, that now passed to be of “middle class” of the clubs with an ordered economy, such as Vélez Sársfield, Lanús, Estudiantes de La Plata and even Godoy Cruz.
In change, the big clubs that for eighty years of professionalism dominated the contests, as River Plate, Independiente, San Lorenzo and Huracán, are in crisis and with a difficult forecast of exit.
River descended for the first time in its history, and though is among the two leaders of the contest of the Second (National B), is going through hell of thirty eight rounds running through the big country as Argentina to play in different provinces of the four cardinal points, meanwhile Huracán and even Rosario Central and Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata (all the clubs with great tradition in the First) accompany them in the Second.
Independiente, a club accustomed to win International cups and to have local preponderance, navigates in a mediocre half of the table after having lost this year all the chances to win any contest after the impulse that meant in 2010 to obtain the Copa Sudamericana, (South American Cup), though it was not in the most brilliant manner, but they stumbled once and again in the intention, meanwhile that San Lorenzo seems to run the same anguishing route as River, with the danger to play the Promotion in front of a team of Second division (that well could be some of the tradition in First) to avoid to descend, in the mid of an enormous economic debt of the club due to a large series o erroneous measures in the last years.
There only remains Racing Club in this fight with Boca, when casually it concerns a club that in the last thirty years was the synonym of chaos and was always at the edge of disappearance. But since a few years, with a competent leadership they were placed again between the firsts, maybe with the best Argentinean football group, if it is to be counted by the individualities.
Just last Sunday, mailing five rounds to finish the Aperture Contest, Boca and Racing confronted in a full Bombonera in what it was the “contest match” because the quality of the groups and situated at a distance of eight points, in that moment at fifteen of the final, it was believed that Racing was the only team capable to dispute the trophy.
Both arrived undefeated (in Boca case, 25 matches without losing) and the situation on the table of positions granted them a special expectative, added that the leader did not count with his three first team players of attack due to injuries (Juan Román Riquelme and Lucas Viatri, for what remains of the contest, and Darío Cvitanich), and to continue adding the elements, there were only three goals converted to Boca in the whole championship, and to Racing only four in fourteen matches.
The confrontation ended with one of the most logical results: 0-0, but there were several elements for the analysis. The first, that with this result, Boca maintained the distance now failing four rounds meanwhile that at the same time, Racing may presume not only of having withdrew without defeat, but that for a good part of the second half counted with nine players for the expulsion of the midfielder Agustín Pelletieri and of the polemic Colombian centre forwarder, Teófilo Gutiérrez.
In Gutiérrez case, the polemic lasted several days after that he did not return in time for the trainings previous to match with Boca after having been convoked to the team of his country to confront the Argentinean team for the classification for the World Championship, in spite of which, the coach Diego Simeone placed him among the first team players and when the match was ending, he was protagonist of a doubtful game in which he fall when he was confronting the local goalkeeper Agustín Orión meanwhile from behind, the backstop player Facundo Roncaglia could have brushed him.
The referee Néstor Pitana considered that there was no infraction (the TV continues repeating the play in different speed and there is no a total agreement between the press on whether the penal existed or not) and in front of the irate complain of Gutierrez, he expelled him.
What remained clear after the match was moreover of what anybody may say in his favour, Boca, at the point of being Champion and as local, could not win over its rival with two players more, meanwhile Racing, knowing that they had only to win, only went as not to lose, though they could have made better if they obtained the not granted penalty. Not a lot for two teams with big ambitions.
Is Boca a fair champion? In the context of the Argentinean football, it is possible that it is, but this does not indicate too much, in comparison with other times of the Argentinean Football.
In any case, the coach Julio César Falcioni, discussed when he arrived to the club early this year, he was modelling a structure starting from behind with the certainty in the goalkeeper Orión, who arrived in the mid of the year and in the veteran, the central marker Rolando Schiavi, who also returned after several years in Brazil or with the Newells Old Boys.
The solidity of its defence and the mid field left certain creative liberty for their attackers to be able to ascertain or fail without being the result in danger and that is why it concerns a group based much more on the shortage of counter goals than in the force of their attack.
After three years, Boca is, every time nearer to become Champion. Millions of fans in the whole world are preparing for the celebration of the end of year.
