The Argentinean team accumulates frustrations (Yahoo)

The more the coach Sergio Batista insists to the contrary, the Argentinean team failed wholly in the experience as local in the Copa América, which what accumulates already eighteen years without official trophies, that will extend, as minimum, to twenty one, when the World Championship 2014 in Brazil will take place, for which they must play the classification.
Batista, in press conference after the match in which Argentina was eliminated by penalties vs the classic rival Uruguay, remaining out of the semi final, affirmed that it does not concern a fail “because we intended it all but it did not turn out well”, but, as it is said, of good intentions is made the road to hell.
The truth is that the Argentinean team was the maximum favourite to remain with the trophy being local, for having the best world’s player in their team (Lionel Messi) accompanied by other stars as Carlos Tévez (maximum scorer of the passed Premier League) , Sergio Agüero or Gonzalo Higuaín, and because they confronted a very accessible group (as Bolivia, that had never got a point playing outside their country in all the history) Colombia and a juvenile team of Costa Rica.
Even so, they suffered to pass to the quarter-final and were at the point to be eliminated in first phase, meanwhile they could not win Bolivia (1-1), nor Colombia (0-0), with which they deserved to lose and with Uruguay (1-1), that in a few months they will be only three of the eight rivals for the classification for the World Championship in Brazil, 2014.
In spite of all the stars gathered, Batista had never found a solid team. He started playing with the system 4-3-3 that, as he said, should be similar to that of Barcelona thus for his major star, Messi, to feel comfortable. With the run of the matches, it was clear that it was impossible to be similar to the Catalonian team, with a mid field with three players nearer to the contention than to the forwarders, because neither Banega nor Gago nor Biglia (as the case requested) were similar to Xavi and Iniesta.
The lack of a forwarder goaler, considering Batista that in this place should play Messi himself, was quitting definition, meanwhile that the entrance of Tevez as extreme left (position that the player himself says not to feel it), it produced a positional confusion for Messi himself, that not being accompanied by the midfielders, besides, he was obliged to low looking for the ball very far from the rival goal and already did not weigh in the contrary area where he is more feared (in fact, he did not make one single goal in the contest).
But in addition, the Copa América left a good general performance of the goalkeeper Sergio Romero, who had to catch more than it was thought because the defence never responded. It called attention that Batista put as central defenders two players with different characteristics who did not contributed to safety, as Gabriel Milito (with lack of timing that in Barcelona he does not play not even when the first team players Puyol o Piqué are injured) and Nicolás Burdisso, that made too many faults and though he has a good mark knows very little with the ball.
With all these inconveniences and with Mascherano a lot under his level in the whole contest, the good triumph against the juveniles of Costa Rica did rise hopes of many fans that believed that in this moment, with a positional change in the mid of the tournament, things might change and as many players said, now “a new Cup is beginning”.
The new system consisted in a 4-2-1-3, with Messi between two midfielders of contentions (Mascherano and Gago) and the three forwarders (Agüero, Higuaín and Di María), what gave him a high offensive quote just when there appeared the first complicated rival, as Uruguay, due to history and the recent participation in the World Championship 2010.
And when there arrived the moment to confirm the system, the Argentinean team was in the worst scenery, with another more formed, with much experience and with a base that comes from working since five years, with the coach Oscar Tabárez, with many trophies in his career, as Uruguay.
Furthermore to have generated several situations of goal (exactly 13), what has also happened is that Uruguay could also generate them (8) and this indicates that the Argentinean defence was not so solid and the best proof is that three from the four defenders (Zabaleta, Burdisso y Milito) had yellow card, meanwhile Mascherano has been expulsed and Gago had to be changed for Biglia, ripped. Namely, that only the case of Zanetti, absolutely all of the in charge of the defensive movements ended with problems.
The feeling is that along the contests, the entrance of Javier Pastore, a priori an ideal partner for Messi, was too late, meanwhile that the entrance of Tevez brought only confusion, besides being the only one who failed his penalty in the definition, something that the father of the Psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud, would explain it in the first page: if a player is not wanted by his coach, if he is not valuated (as it occurred with Tevez in this cycle) his inconscience will not be in his favour in the moment of definition.
As in the previous Copa America of Argentina, in 1987, once again the locals are eliminated before the final and by the same team, Uruguay, even when for a long time they counted with one player more and cheered in the city of Santa Fe by his own public.
In that way, the Argentinean team continues without winning anything since the Copa America in 1993, and neither will be able to represent South America in the Confederations Cup of Brasil 2013, a year before the World Championship.
Neither is known, moreover the assertion of Batista that he has a contract till the World Championship and he intends to comply with same, if this is possible when he is not recognized by people and has no previous experience that will back him up, besides of having won in 2008 the Olympic Golden Medal.
